Matcha is one of the most antioxidant rich foods in nature helping keep you healthy. It contains the powerful catechin EGCG which can help repair cellular damage caused by free radicals, reduce inflammation, support heart health and help prevent certain chronic conditions. Matcha is also rich in the amino acid L-theanine which is known to help relieve stress and anxiety. The naturally occurring L-theanine and caffeine combination found in matcha helps increase focus and attention. The super combination gives what people describe as a calming focus - energy without the jitters.

A little packs a mighty punch: ½ - 1 level teaspoon or 1 - 2 grams of matcha is all you need for a great matcha beverage or treat.  A ½ teaspoon (1 gram) serving of matcha contains about 35 mg of caffeine.

It’s best kept fresh: Keep matcha in its airtight container and store closed in a cool dark place. This will not only help keep it tasting fresh but keep its bright green color. Use within a month of opening for the freshest flavor.

It's matcha's unique natural combination of caffeine and L-theanine that give you that calming focus and tranquil energy. Each ½  teaspoon (1 gram) serving of matcha has about 35 milligrams of caffeine and will provide you with 4-6 hours of calming energy and focus.

Did you know that high quality matcha has more clumps than lower quality matcha? This is due to how fine the matcha is ground during the stone grinding process.

There are a couple things you can do to remove the clumps to ensure a smoother tasting matcha beverage.

  • Sift your matcha into your bowl or cup prior to adding water.

  • Premix first: Pour a small amount (1 - 2 oz) of water over your sifted matcha and lightly mix with your chasen until smooth. This creates what's known as "thick matcha". Follow up by adding your remaining 2-3 oz of hot water to your matcha and whisking until frothy.

  • Drink immediately: Matcha does not actually dissolve like sugar or salt would therefore it's best practice to enjoy right away to prevent matcha from settling.

Matcha's high nutritional content gives it a distinctive vegetal flavor. Matcha's gentle bitterness, slight sweetness, buttery and nutty undertones, and its mouthwatering umami "essence of deliciousness,"  all come together to create a perfect flavor profile.

Water temperature matters! Preparing your hot matcha in water that is too hot can scorch your matcha. Not only will this make your matcha taste bitter but will also dull it’s color. 140°-175° F. Whatever you do, do not boil your water!
