In its simplest form, matcha is shaded green tea leaves (Camellia sinensis) that have been dried and ground into a fine powder. Instead of only receiving a small part of the nutritional benefits of brewed green tea, with matcha you are consuming the whole leaf, which means all the healthful goodness!
Matcha Organics matcha is made from high quality organic green tea leaves that have been shade grown for 3 weeks prior to harvest. This shading process increases the amount of chlorophyll and amino acids the new growth produces. The topmost and darkest leaves are carefully picked and go through the labor intensive process of destemming, deveining, dring and then are stone ground into the very fine powder known as Matcha.
Matcha can be whisked with hot water for a deliciously frothy traditional nutrient dense tea, added to milk for a tasty latte, or incorporated into any smoothie, dessert or baking recipe for a natural boost energy boost, and dose of antioxidants and nutrients.
Not only is matcha a true wellness superfood, its unique combination of caffeine and L-theanine produce a sort of tranquil energy. There is a great reason Zen monks have used matcha for centuries... its calming focus is beyond compare.

Unlike many other matcha brands, Matcha Organics matcha is not just another mass produced matcha. We are a small family business and it’s important that we keep with those family values across our production. We work closely with our multigenerational tea farmers and family owned production and packaging company in Shizuoka, Japan to produce truly authentic, fresh, and high quality organic matcha at a fair price. Matcha Organics is in fact their sole provider of matcha in the U.S.
In order to maintain freshness it is important for our matcha to be farmed and packaged in Shizuoka. This close relationship with our farmers allows us to truly be farm direct and small batch. Matcha is harvested each spring and is ground to order to ensure the matcha stays fresh. We only order small quantities of matcha that way when it arrives to you, it's as fresh as can be. Our matcha is kept in a specialty climate controlled storage facility for dry food grade products.
Shizuoka is the largest tea producing prefecture in Japan and there’s a good reason for that. Located along the Pacific Ocean in central Japan and at the foot of Mount Fuji, the conditions in Shizuoka are ideal for the production of “perfect” matcha. The unique hilly and mountainous terrain, mineral rich ancient volcanic soil, mild four-season climate, adequate sunshine, reliable and ideal amount of rain, and dense coastal fog all come together to produce these superior tea leaves.
It has been said in Japan since ancient times that delicious tea grows in the fog of a large river. Our tea is grown along a remote part of the Oi River which is known for producing the best quality tea leaves in Japan.
